What
We Have Been Waiting For.
After
many sleepless nights nights the Ulster Grand Prix Bike Week is
ready to roll and if the weather works with us this year it could
well turn into the race of the year. The “Ulster”
is different from the other international events according to
the riders and the spectators behind the hedge rows, as this is
a head-to-head race around the world’s fastest course and
it is pure rider ability that often wins it. This month’s
Ulster GP could also see the last head-to-head battle of the official
‘works’ teams competing as there are rumours that
some could be scaled down next year. So you don’t want to
miss this month’s race meeting when you look at the riders
coming to Dundrod:
Guy
Martin (Hydrex Honda)
John McGuinness (HM Plant Honda)
Ian Hutchinson (HM Plant Honda)
Cameron Donald (Robinson Honda)
Ian Lougher (Stobart Honda)
Martin Finnegan (MV Agusta)
Bruce Anstey (TAS Suzuki)
Adrian Archibald (TAS Suzuki)
Keith Amor (AIM Yamaha)
Steve Allen (AIM Yamaha)
Conor Cummins (Millsport Yamaha)
Rob Frost (CD Yamaha)
Ryan Farquhar (McAdoo Kawasaki)
William Dunlop (Lilley Suzuki)
Plus
others like Paul Hunt, Gary Johnston, Mark Parrott, Ian Armstrong,
James McBride, Carl Rennie, Les Shand, Mark Buckley and all the
top Irish riders.
There’s
the biggest entry with 38 newcomers at the Ulster GP for many
years especially all the Dundrod 150 races on Thursday afternoon
from @ 2pm.
Race Co-ordinator Leslie Moore said: “Thanks to our main
sponsor the Belfast Telegraph and Lisburn City Council we were
able to go ahead and plan for this month’s meeting. Such
has been the passion for the Ulster Grand Prix we have secured
sponsorship for all our races etc. I have also been amazed by
peoples’ reaction towards the event as I now know they are
just as passionate about it as myself. Unlike other events they
mainly come to the Dundrod hills for the racing and that’s
what our main priority will be. We have organised 11 races with
the best riders that you will see anywhere. It’s an historic
event and one of the very few places that you can race the same
circuit as legends like Hailwood, Agostini, Duke, Surtees, Reid,
Saarianen, Ivy, Williams, McCullough, Rutter, Robinson, Marshall,
Haslam, Brown, McCallen, Jefferies and of course Dunlop have done
in the past.
I
just want everyone to come and support the event, enjoy the racing
and go home looking forward to returning in 2008. I have a good
feeling about this years event and I just hope it comes true as
we all deserve it.”
